Relationship between leaders and community groups

I have over five years experience, leading and organising in the communities. I have undertaken different courses in community organising and development. Training and experience have given me a great understanding of the dynamics of community leadership and organising.

Leadership training in the voluntary sector is not only relevant but also very refreshing and inspiring to me.

I am interested in understanding the interests of those in both political and economic power in the issues that affect communities. In my humble opinion, there are always conflicting interests; for example, those in economic power, expect communities to understand them but without them having any interest in understanding community issues, which in the end could drain the energy and passion of community groups.

I am also interested in learning how to approach some of the challenges in community leadership; for example how to balance between leadership and empowerment and how to motivate volunteers and keep their energy going for a long period of time.
