Like Claudia, I don't have a picture handy. I will paint a picture though through a narrative. A number of years ago, I went to attend a conference in a European City. The organisers of the conference organised transport from the airport. On arrival I was met by a person holding paper with my name. Surprise, surprise, when we went to the car park, I was invited to walk to a bus. To my surprise, I was the only passenger. The Voluntary sector organisations, I have been associated with believe that we should always spend money when it is necessary and discourage their members to waste money. With movements like Climate Change and Extinction Rebellion, there is eagerness and urge for individuals to do what they can to reduce their carbon footprint. I made an effort to highlight my experience to the organisers as I felt a bit edgy about the experience. A taxi and public transport could have done the job. I have been thinking about the experience since. Sharing this experience, will I am sure help participants on the course to think about their own ethical dilemmas and more importantly the lessons learnt in the process. From that experience onwards, whenever I am told that the host will organise airport transfer for me, I make an effort to highlight my previous experiences.
