My ideal leader in the voluntary sector is someone who defines the organisation's vision and its direction of travel, someone who not only conveys the vision orally but also demonstrates it to the employees through their behaviours and endeavours, and who has the ability to communicate this vision to staff and with the wider public and donors. Leaders play a crucial role in designating the strategies of the organisation which includes leading complex system developments, this in turn must inspire and motivate others to achieve the transformation, goals, objectives working through partnership and collaboration. For this reason, it is important that they, leaders, do not hesitate while making decisions and that they use initiative. Encouraging and empowering people to be the best that they can be is a key part of the role of a leader. The ability to listen, encourage feedback, respect the view of others even when challenging is also important.
