Many Ways of Exclusion

I remember many years ago trying to do a postgrad teaching certificate when I was unemployed due to health and disability problems. I couldn't do a certificate because I had no experience. i couldn't get experience due to my health problems and disability. Having a degree already it was difficult to find work I could do, or to access education that would lead to work I could do. DWP courses were at level 1, and would usually be problematic with a disability, because local employers wanted training restricted to areas where they  had shortages. I suspect they just did not care that people with disabilities would suffer. That lack of access left me without work for several years, and cost tens of thousands of pounds. I was unable to volunteer even with local organisations because I had no skills in the areas they wanted, and of course I was restricted due to the disability. I found this many times, and even in the NHS where 35 years ago I worked

I have early not very severe cataracts and a couple of other smaller disabilities, but they present certain specific problems. In the UK, supposely a developed country there is almost no help. On my first module EE814 I had problems reading text, and there still are scaling problems. I am presently using my brand new 32 inch 4k monitor at half resolution because at full resolution the text is tiny. other ways to increase resolution causebits of screen to vanish. I had to work out how to deal with the problems while i had sever headaches, my eyes streamed, and I could barely see, all on my own.

Hannah,

I'm in sympathy with you; so much has happened, and you have been through all of these different rejections and been marginalised because of your disability. I can see you're frustrated, and the resolution to your viewing issue is complicated. I hope a solution is found to your viewing issue and that those you mentioned in finding  suitable employment.
