children with support needs

I found this course enlightening and interesting. Darren saying that diagnoise is a tool was a great way of putting it.

Also to make child planning meetings more warming and including tea and biscuits

thank you Linda, and regarding the tea and biscuits, it's often the basic things in life that are really important don't you think? sharing food and making people feel welcome ...

Totally agree. As a parent of 2 children with additional needs, I feel that a warm welcoming environment, to make things a bit less daunting is the best. During these meetings you can hear things that are upsetting and having tea/biscuits and the chance to express your concerns and feelings is vital. I'd also add that putting emphasis on the parent being the expert on there child is helpful as it can build the parents confidence to say how they really feel and let them know they are doing a good job and their input is valued.
