Yes. I believe our Education Policy makers can assist by making it mandatory for teachers and teacher educators to enroll for ICT training classes. This can be overseen by the TRCN, Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria. This will ensure that all teachers are ICT compliant, making use of OCR resources easier.

yes.,,but as per now the education sector needs to ensure that all the teachers and students are computer literate ; to add value to  teaching and learning ,thus enhancing its effectiveness. when ICT is integrated in the teaching and learning process, students become more interested and engaged in their work,as ICT involves teaching the same thing in diffrent ways.

Linet, I do like your statement that ICT can "add value to  teaching and learning ,thus enhancing its effectiveness". How do we make sure this happens?

One way is to ensure that appropriate technology is used. The choice of the technology can make a difference between success and attrition. In a teacher training course that I teach on many of the students prefer whatsapp to zoom and Teams, because it consumes less data on their mobile devices. Thus, appripriate technology is one way of ensuring effectiveness.

Felix, this is an excellent point - when we choose applications, we need to think of how the technology works on the ground, for the users - costs included!

Are you all in the same case as Yusuf? How much do you use ICT?

What reasons could you identify for the low use Yusuf mentions?

The use of ICT for teaching is becoming popular in my country but the challenge still lies largely in educators' abilities to use these resources. It is dependent on the government to encourage ICT training for all educators

I think we have enough technology around us. so the idea is to see how we can harness this for use in our classrooms: Computers, radios, phones, DSTV, internet...

Yes. But more importantly, the educational sector need to implement computer literacy, in the lives of the teachers and students. And the successful integration of ICT into the classroom will depend on the ability of teacher's to structure the learning environment in new ways, to merge new technology with a new pedagogy, to develop socially active classrooms, encouraging co-operative interaction, collaborative learning and group work.
