Challenged by Kenyan Elimu video: How many children can be reached?

Incorporating ICT into teaching and learning requires a lot of innovation and funding. Even when one desires to engage with it, one could only carry out installations similar to Elimu's in one or two places. One wonders how many children could be reached in the rural areas. This presents a scenario where some privileged children are engaged with functional education, while many are left out. 

Therefore, there is an urgent need for stakeholders in the Educational sector to give attention to equipping schools in all local government areas of my country.

Well, yes, some projects do make you dream! I truly believe that the important thing is to start where we're at and make it work for us and our pupils. 

Start small, start with what you have and as new opportunities come your way, seize them, and this will bring you other opportunities. 

Yes, it is true, the ICT environment in which we work is challenging, but if we are resourceful, we can make what you have work... There are some brilliant ideas in this forum on the use of mobile phones. The document "Leading the use of technology in your school" which is included in the documents for this section should provide a few ideas.

The Elimu project is a great one and just like the presenter said, its a disruptive idea. It is important that government provides ICT resources in classroom so that collaborative studies can be better facilitated. In addition, ICT resources such as videos, phones, etc could help to make learning come alive for the learners

This is one way in which we have to appreciate that we have to start  despite the challenges that en campus the implementation. The starting point is important since the project has provided  a base from which other improvements can be done.
