Week 2 Activity 2

Leaders who are valued are those who set striking and consistent examples, who listen to those around them, who know how to find talent and nurture it, and who at are passionate about the cause.

The behaviour will depend on who they are with eg:-

-          With beneficiaries they will both listen and support

-          With movers and shakers they will advocate passionately

-          With staff and volunteers they will be caring yet firm

I agree with you Nick . The most valuable and memorable leaders that I have worked with in the VS not only listen to those around them, understand and know how to find talent and nurture it and are committed and passionate about the cause. Driven by a sense of social justice and wanting to make things better.

I feel too that has been a move away from the louder more flamboyant leaders to a more considered, business like style - I favour this approach more especially when orgs are being entrusted with public money but am also conscious that not everyone agrees that this is the way forward for the VS
