'Steady-State’ Heat Flow

Heat flow through a building element or material under the simplifying assumption that the temperatures on each side of the element remain constant;  this does not normally occur in the real world, but may be assumed for approximate calculations under appropriate conditions.

‘Transient State’ Heat Transfer

The usual conditions under which heat flows through building materials and elements with temperatures on both sides continually changing.
