Haemoglobin A1c

A test that measures the amount of glucose that has stuck to the haemoglobin (red blood cells) in the last 8 to 12 weeks. It gives an idea of the average BG readings over that period of time. Research has shown that people with an HbA1c above target have a higher chance of developing diabetes complications. Often shortened to HbA1c.
