  1. Knowledge of the four main types of abuse (physical, emotional, sexual, and neglect) helps you recognise abuse.
  2. Bullying is a form of emotional abuse that can be very serious.
  3. It is important to identify whether poor practice is linked to a safeguarding concern.
  4. Power dynamics and patterns of discrimination within sport reflect those in wider society (e.g. gender, disability, ethnicity, sexuality, and religion).
  5. Some individuals experience intersecting forms of discrimination and vulnerability.
  6. Recognising and acknowledging vulnerability helps organisations to improve safeguarding.
