To make safeguarding effective, you will need a safeguarding policy with associated procedures. A safeguarding policy describes your organisation’s commitment to keeping everyone safe. Safeguarding procedures provide step-by-step instructions on how to implement your policy. Codes of conduct are important to clarify what behaviour is expected and to help people recognise inappropriate behaviour. Codes of conduct work best when people have to comply, and there is a system when someone has breached the code.
