4.3.5 Nausea

Firstly consider treating any underlying cause of nausea such as dehydration, constipation, infection or drug side effects.

Metroclopramide, cinnarzine and prochlorperazine cannot be used in Parkinson’s as they will worsen symptoms due to their antagonistic effect on dopaminergic receptors.

Ondanestron and domperidone are usually the antiemetics of choice.

Cyclizine may be used with caution.
