Background reading
As you will have seen from this list of resources, activities and links there are a range of organisations which focus on internet safety and supporting schools in this task. Indeed the UK has done probably more than any other country to respond to this issue of child protection on the internet. The online applications, websites and wider environment in which children are using ICT is constantly changing but the principles of child protection are not. As you continue to develop your project and reflect on this issue of modern childhood, following are a number of very good sources of further reading:

Professor Tanya Byron was commissioned by the Prime Minister in 2007 to undertake an independent review looking at the risks to children from exposure to potentially harmful or inappropriate material on the internet and in video games. A full report was produced and a further follow-up review undertaken by Professor Byron in 2008.
