Lesson objectives

By the end of the lesson, you will be able to:

• Observe an electron beam in a fine beam tube (FBT)
• Change and observe the path of an electron beam
• Collect measurements from the FBT
• Use these measurements to determine the charge to mass ratio of an electron.

The following practical and experimental skills will be developed:

• Observation
• Manipulation of simulated apparatus
• Data collection
• Graph plotting
• Determining a constant from a graph.
