I need contacts

First, it is important to be clear about what you need contacts for. Do you need expertise or technical knowledge? Do you want to learn about the rewilding context of your area? Are you looking for co-founders for your initiative?

Look at your rewilding idea and reflect on what specific skills, knowledge or time you need from new contacts. Consider also what could be in it for them. What opportunity, knowledge or skills can you offer to them?

Keep in mind that, depending on what you are searching for, the contacts you need might be in other countries and sectors.

How to find the right contacts

Review the suggestions below and write in your personal rewilding plan any that are relevant to you.

  1. The European Young Rewilders is a network of young people aged 18-30 who work together to progress the rewilding movement. There are volunteer roles available, in-person meet-ups, and regular communications and campaigning actions. There are young rewilders present in 29 countries and they welcome new members.

  2. The European Rewilding Network brings together over 100 of the leading rewilding initiatives from across Europe. They are an excellent source of inspiration and expertise, and many are open to the public. Find out if there is an initiative near you.

  3. The European Rewilding Coalition unites the leading dedicated rewilding organisations in Europe. Some, such as Rewilding Britain, coordinate a network of other rewilding initiatives within their country. Others, such as Rewilding Apennines, run a volunteer programme where you can work alongside the rewilding team and gain first-hand experience. See if there is a Rewilding Coalition member in your country and learn more about how you can become involved.

Many networks and organisations also arrange online events and webinars that are advertised on their website, social media or newsletter.

Take a moment now to subscribe to their channels and communications, so you can learn when these are taking place.
