I need job or volunteering opportunities

Remember that you do not need to work in an organisation or a job position that is labelled as “rewilding”. If you are applying the rewilding mindset and rewilding principles – then you are rewilding.

Finding work is different in each country. You could:

  • Connect with organisations and check their vacancies. Consider for-profit, non-profit and government agencies.
  • You do not need to have a background in ecology. As you have learned, you can contribute as a lawyer, communicator, tourist operator, artist or from many other sectors.
  • Consider whether there are opportunities in a place you already work. Can you encourage your employer to take a stronger environmental position? Could they stock or promote rewilding-friendly products? Do they offer grants or volunteer days that could help a rewilding charity?

Volunteering schemes are run by:

You can also create your own opportunities. For instance:

  • Arrange a screening of a rewilding film and invite people to speak
  • Conduct research on an aspect of rewilding
  • Offer the skills you have to a local organization that is helping nature to recover. They don’t have to be called ‘rewilding’ to be doing valuable work.

Now you have some first ideas about what to do.

Look at your personal rewilding plan. Circle the very first thing you can do to get started and schedule when you will do it.
