There is also story-based Spanish content that teens and adults can enjoy, making it easier for families to learn together at different stages.

Free Spanish Bedtime Stories for Kids

Here is a list of places where one can download free books either in English or in Spanish. Famous Classics can often be found in both languages. Pure Spanish immersion is ideal for intermediate to advanced learners.

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg publishes public-domain books that are free to download. These include classics such as Robinson Crusoe, Treasure Island, Tom Sawyer, Around the World in 80 Days, Little Women, and many well-known fairy tales.

Most children’s books here are written in older English, and a few are available in Spanish as separate editions. Parents on a tight budget can use the free English version, alongside another free Spanish edition they find elsewhere online as side-by-side parallel-text support.

Project Gutenberg offers a wide selection of children’s books in English, but very few children’s books in Spanish or English titles translated into Spanish. Its Spanish collection consists mostly of literary works or books originally written for adults.

A practical approach is to download the English edition from Project Gutenberg, then search online for the corresponding Spanish translation.

For example, searching “Tom Sawyer en español PDF” locates a free Spanish edition provided by the Mexican Department of Education.

Library of Miguel de Cervantes

This digital library provides Spanish translations of many classic works and offers free PDF downloads for selected titles.

When searching, it is more effective to use the author’s name rather than the book title, since titles appear in Spanish. For example, searching “Lewis Carroll” retrieves the Spanish editions of Alice in Wonderland.

LibriVox

LibriVox.org is a volunteer-run project where public domain books are recorded and released as free audiobooks.

At the time of writing, the platform offers over 500 children’s fiction titles in English and more than 900 Spanish audiobooks across various genres, including a small selection of children’s books.

The recordings are not bilingual; each audiobook is in a single language.

They are also not produced with language learners in mind, so the pacing and delivery follow natural native-speaker speed.

This makes LibriVox more suitable for advanced learners who want full Spanish immersion to strengthen listening comprehension and fluency.

The episodes are presented entirely in Spanish without translations, making them suitable as immersion practice for intermediate to advanced learners.

The stories are available for free as podcasts on Spotify, and free transcripts can be downloaded from the website.
