1.4 OU Students Association
Like most universities, the OU has its own students’ union which you automatically become a member of. The Students Association provides a wide range of support as well as ways to get involved with the student community. 2022- 2024 Association President Margaret Greenaway is here to give you a small taster of what is on offer. You’ll learn more later in this session.

MARGARET GREENAWAY:
Hello. I'm Margaret, and I'm here to tell you all about the Open University Students Association. We're like a union that's run by and for OU students. And it's our job to help you get the most out of your time at the OU.
We do this by focusing on many things from offering support and building a fantastic student community to making sure our students are represented and have their voices heard. As soon as you register for an OU course, you'll automatically become part of the Students Association. You can then sign up to different support groups, clubs, and societies and connect with other students through social meetups and events.
Another great way to get involved is by volunteering. Not only can you boost your skills, but volunteering is a great way to meet people too. There is far too much to fit into one video. So the best thing to do is to visit oustudents.com and have a look around. We hope to welcome you to the OU family soon and wish you all the very best for your studies. Thank you.
