Futurium is an "online platform launched by the Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology of the European Commission to facilitate a broad reflection on future European policies. It combines the informal character of social networks with the methodological approach of foresights to engage stakeholders in the co-creation of futures and policy ideas that matter to them".

It was initiated by government and encourages people to participate through an online platform. Futurium is transnational in orientation and concerned with democracy, politics & representation

It was launched in 2012 and is ongoing.
