Drinking liberally logo Drinking Liberally describes itself as an "informal, inclusive progressive social group [...] [that] gives like-minded, left-leaning individuals a place to talk politics. You don't need to be a policy expert and this isn't a book club - just come and learn from peers, trade jokes, vent frustration and hang out in an environment where it's not taboo to talk politics".

It was initiated by a non-governmental organisation/charity and social movement activists and encourages people to participate through public assembly. Drinking Liberally is national in orientation and concerned with democracy, politics & representation.

It was launched in May 2003 and is ongoing.
