This part of your training will cover Health and Safety matters. It is broken down into small subchapters for you to complete, each covering an aspect of Health and Safety.
2. Fire Safety Introduction| Statistics
2.8. Fire Extinguishers
Please note that in the presentation you have been shown the PASS technique for using fire extinguishers, however, there is an exception to this.
'When using a foam extinguisher, it will dispense a short jet of water for the first couple of seconds as the foam is created. If this water is directed at an oil fire, a fireball will result. Therefore, when using a foam extinguisher, it is important to point it away from the fire until good foam is being produced, and then fight the fire.
This is another good reason why only trained personnel should fight fires.' (Blackpool Council, 2024)
