What are feathers, beaks, and wings?

Beaks are pointy, hard mouths on birds' faces. In this picture, it's yellow. Feathers are soft and cover the birds skin.

Do you know what the bird above is? (click here to reveal)

It's a starling! They have very unique and beautiful feathers that look like the night sky.

Did you know starlings' beaks change colour. They are usually yellow, but black in winter. Find them in gardens and parks!Instead of mouths like we have, birds have beaks. They are hard and pointy

Birds use them for eating, fighting, grooming, and singing

Beaks are also used to build nests, since birds do not have hands

Like us, birds can look very different if they are a child or an adult.

A juvenile (child) starling and an adult starling.

All birds have feathers. Feathers are what makes up the bird's wings and fluffy body.

A starling's wings in flight with arrows; there is a diagram of a feather. Feathers are what make up the wings.

You may know that birds use their wings to fly, but they also have other uses. Can you name some?(click here to reveal)

Birds also use their wings and feathers to attract female birds and to scare off predators!
