Key Principles of LCE

Learner-centered education prioritizes students' needs, interests, and autonomy, shifting the focus from teacher-led instruction to student-driven learning.

Key principles:

1. Student agency: Encourage self-directed learning.

2. Personalization: Tailor learning to individual needs.

3. Inquiry-based: Foster curiosity and exploration.

4. Competency-based: Focus on mastery, not age or grade.

5. Collaborative: Encourage peer-to-peer learning.

LCE also helps to do away with exclusion. It motivate and engage all pupils to learn.

Great point Gladys. Do you have an example of how to do this in the classroom.

eg I find that by giving students the chance to discuss an open question in pairs for a few minutes, I have chance to move around the room and notice who is struggling.
