Persona Card: 'Simi' from the Pacific

Attachment

This is my persona card. I feel that it is important to include the often marginalized  experiences and circumstances of learners from the developing Pacific Islands. I have done my best to incorporate those into 'Simi', the persona I have come up with for this exercise. 'Simi' purposely does not have a surname as his experiences are representative of the three very linguistically different sub-regions that make up the developing Pacific.

One way in which my prospective course can support a learner who has similar circumstances to Simi is by ensuring that all (or at least most) lectures/tutorials/seminars are recorded and made available to students within at least twenty-four hours of the class taking place.

Note: The persona's name is pronounced "si (like the 'si' in 'sit') mi (like the 'mi' in 'mist') The two sounds together make the name "SIMI".

Thank you so much for sharing this, the insight into Simi's personal life and commitments was very useful when considering designing learning for someone like Simi :)

Dear Jasmine,

I loved Simi's profile, absolutely relatable, whether it is about saying "no" or family roles and responsibilities. To accommodate such a learner in course, I believe audios and videos are important. Sitting at one place and reading printed material might be too time-consuming/Simi may not have the time. However, listening and visual material could be immensely useful. What do you think?

Looking forward to interacting with you,

Smruti.
