AI research project

Hi,

I would be interested in finding out how AI impacts upon output and critical thinking. My hypothesis would be that a high degree of critical thinking would be associated with better output, rather than the use of AI. My thesis would be that if AI is used critically it is a useful tool, but if not does not improve learning. Because it is so flawed in terms of hallucination and generalisation currently, it can actually impede results I think.

I would use experimental design with a question (E.g. My field - ‘Are mental health conditions diagnosable and treatable in the same way as physical health conditions?’).

I would give one group access to chat GPT and the other group web access (e.g. online journals) for 4 hours, a supervised lunch then they would write a report using evidence.

The paper would be marked. They would then complete a questionnaire about the process and how they drew conclusions to grade critical thinking.
