The Strength of Weak Ties

Granovetter's theory of the strength of weak ties is important to both our learners and ourselves as educators.

1.  For our learners it highlights that they shouldn't always rely on a single source of information.

2.  For educators it highlights the importance of networking and nurturing relationships beyond our usual social circles.

Questions:

1.  Could online networking be a practice that we as educators adopt as a form of continuous professional development?

2.  For learners how could we encourage learners to look beyond the classroom and their usual circle of peers to make new connections?
