Course structure

The course is divided into six short units:

  • Unit 1 will look at what Evidence Cafés are and what their basic building blocks include.
  • Unit 2 begins to apply the Evidence Café approach to the issue of migration. You will watch a short video around the planning of an Evidence Café on migration and start to work out who should be involved and how. The Unit then gives more background on the definitions and theories of migrants and migration.
  • Unit 3 focuses in on the typologies we use for understanding different forms of evidence.
  • Unit 4 examines the different forms of evidence that are most usually used when discussing migration.
  • Unit 5 examines the resources that can be used to facilitate discussions in an Evidence Café – called discussion objects.
  • Unit 6 revisits the planning of a migration-related Evidence Café. This closing Unit will help you think through Evidence Café participants and their different interests and understandings which is crucial as you plan your own Evidence Café.
  • The course finishes with a quiz.
