This professional learning course is designed for teachers teaching any subject at any level in a Scottish school context. The course is regonised by the General Teaching Council for Scotland with the GTCS professional recognition award.
The course upskills teachers in incorporating teaching Scots language and culture in their classroom.
Teachers studying this course will:
- learn about the guidance and research on as well as best practice of teaching Scots language and culture in Scottish schools
- learn about relevant aspects of Scots language and culture, and can also learn the Scots language should they not be speakers of Scots already
- learn about the SQA awards pupils can gain for studying Scots language and culture
- learn how to incorporate elements of Scots language and culture in their own teaching and practice this in their classrooms
- learn how to take an interdisciplinary approach to teaching Scots language and culture
- understand the value of Scots language skills their pupils bring to their education as key transferable literacy skills that form an important part of their identity
Learners who enrol on the course will be enrolling in the understanding that their name and email address will be visible to those users who have the course manager and teacher roles.
