Facilitation notes

In this course, the activity is to read through the TPD@Scale Compendium. There in an Introduction, and five sections. The course is set at three hours, and you can organise separate meetings to cover the content. There are different ways to do this;

  • Individuals read sections of the Compendium before the meeting (for instance, Sections 1 and 2) and use the meeting time to discuss the sections;
  • Individuals read the whole Compendium before the meeting and use the meeting time to discuss the five sections;
  • The group reads the sections together in the meeting time - in this case, the readings would be done over at least two or three meetings;
  • Pairs of readers each read a section and report back to the whole group on the key points.

It will be important to work through the discussion points attached to each reading. A group member could record the discussion on chart paper or a chalkboard.

The Compendium diagrams can take time to understand. You could ask individuals to select programmes and describe them to each other.

Key questions for each reading are:

  • Do we see anything in these examples that we could apply to our context?
  • What would we need to adapt, for teachers in our context?

The group may decide to print out the Compendium. You can also vary the meetings, with some taking place face to face and others taking place online.

You can start an online discussion forum to talk about the course with other students, for instance, on WhatsApp, Facebook, or any digital platform that is readily accessible to your study group.
