Partial Adequacy Decisions
The following countries have been given partial findings of adequacy. This means that only certain data is covered:
- Canada – only covers data that is subject to Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA)
- Japan – only covers personal data transferred to private sector organisations subject to Japan’s Act on the Protection of Personal Information
- USA – only covers data which is transferred under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework
The UK is currently undertaking a robust monitoring and review process of adequate countries to ensure that UK personal data continues to be well protected when it is sent overseas. You can look here for updated information on adequacy decisions.
