Model Answer Unit 5, Activity 10.0, Step B, Part 3, Community Links

Your answer might look different, here is what we thought might be useful strategies for language learning sessions:

  • In order to create a sense of immersion in the other language, but still make the session engaging and to avoid giving participants a sense of feeling lost or challenged, the La Biciteca approach is ideal, as language is just one of many tools used for communication.

  • Telling the story in simple target language and supporting the storytelling with performance elements engages the audience very much.

  • Using a multimodal approach means that you can cater for learners with many different needs, for example people who have a hearing impairment will understand the story through props and gestures; participants who have reduced eyesight will be able to make meaning from music, the tone of voice, song etc.
