Operational maturity is a fundamental expectation for Series B investors. By this stage, startups have typically demonstrated initial product–market fit and early revenue traction. However, investors recognise that early-stage processes, which may have been sufficient during initial growth, often become bottlenecks as the company scales.

At Series B, the focus shifts to whether the company’s systems, workflows and technology infrastructure can support rapid expansion without introducing inefficiencies, operational risk or quality issues.
