Advantages of signing up onto a free course

When you have created an OU account you can add our courses to your profile. Your profile will keep a log of the courses you are taking and keep track of your progress as well as display statements of participation or badges you have been awarded.

You can create a free OU account in minutes, then sign in to OpenLearn and enrol on as many free courses as you like.

How and where to enrol on free course

Getting the most from a free course

You do not need to create an account to view our courses, but creating one will enable you to get the most from your learning.

If you already have an account, sign in with your username and password. Otherwise, follow these simple steps:

  1. Create an OU account
  2. On the 'thank you' page follow the 'sign in to OpenLearn' link
  3. Sign in using your new username and password
  4. You will be returned to the page you were on, and will be able to view your 'My OpenLearn' profile and enrol on courses. Your learning will now be tracked and you will eligible for the free statements of participation, or digital badge if the course offers one.

 

 

Signing up unlocks advanced course features

Creating an account with OpenLearn unlocks extra features

 

  • Account holders who complete a course get a free statement of participation.
  • View your My OpenLearn profile to see a record of your learning, including any statements of participation or badges you’ve earned.
  • A course progress bar gives an overview of how far you are through the course.
  • See the courses you’re studying and your progression on each one.
  • See which sections you’ve completed and are currently working on.
