Open Corporates logo OpenCorporates is bringing together corporate data and government data relating to companies and exists to make this information more accessible, more discoverable, and more usable, and thus give citizens, community groups, journalists, other companies, and society as a whole the ability to understand, monitor and regulate them.

It was initiated by non-governmental organisation/charity and encourages people to participate through an online platform. Open Corporates is local, national, transnational and global in orientation and concerned with research, knowledge production and information access, participation and democracy, politics and representation.  It is ongoing.
