This online summer school ran over 4 weeks in July/August and involved two online investigations, each based on a different experimental technique: Digital fluorescence microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy. Participants completed the investigations online (interactive screen experiment or via remote access to real instrumentation in the OU laboratories). An optional field-based investigation involved a survey of moth biodiversity. Participants were also introduced to the basics of bioinformatics and the different tools available.
Successful completion required participants to engage in three of the investigations during which time they developed and applied observational, numeracy, time-management, collaboration and communication skills.
