An interesting toe-in-the-water introduction to Scottish history and the myths of Scottish identity that refers almost in passing to the invention of a Scottish identity that is essentially Highland in nature while the bulk of the populace were and are lowlanders. The brief Edinburgh study and its recommended reading make no mention of significant works like the draining of the North Loch and the unfinished National Monument on Calton Hill. I think that the course works as an introduction to rather complex areas that deserve to be investigated in more depth.
very interesting starting point to this subject but could definitely use some more activities, and more information on the second subject as I feel like it was more of an afterthought than a full topic?
