Ben Dryer is a space instrumentation research fellow in the Center for Electronic Imaging at The Open University. His research focuses on how the harsh radiation of deep space affects the silicon sensors used as the "eyes" for missions like Euclid, Gaia, and SMILE. Ben is the engagement and insight manager for the OpenLearn team. He has a background in data and communications, and prior to joining the Open University in 2019 worked across numerous trade, corporate and consumer magazines and websites as a journalist and editor.

Ben is Professor in Sports Performance Education. He originally established Sport and Fitness qualifications at the Open University in 2007 having previously lectured at Portsmouth and Southampton Solent Universities.
