Course Specification Document

BOCs are commissioned by OpenLearn, the strategy for which is developed with and sanctioned by the Learning and Discovery Services. Before a BOC is produced, a Course Specification is developed with faculty Open Media Fellow and with approval from the respective Dean. The course specification is then considered by OpenLearn as part of a commissioning process for new courses on the platform in the financial year.

OpenLearn have a budget to develop BOCs according to an agreed strategy and has been allowed to use the OU brand in this way, according to the criteria set for assessment. A blank specification template is available in the BOC section on OpenLearn’s intranet page BOC course specification.
