Audio-visual

We find that AV is one of the most important parts of the course you are developing as this is an element that can really draw attention to your ideas and concepts being taught in the course. It is also one of the elements of course production that takes the longest time to create and finalise.

OpenLearn will have a set budget for the course and what can be cleared / created for the course. We normally allocate around 6-8 videos which are pieces to camera for the course but if you don't require this we can look at how best we can use the budget to achieve what the authoring team are looking to create. We also welcome our academics to be the faces of the AV, but if there is someone else that you'd like to contribute to these instead that can be arranged by the OpenLeanr Senior Producer.

There is a guide for AV here.

When looking at creating new content for AV it's a good idea to have an idea of the script you're looking to film, this will help the AV producer follow the filming and make sure everything is captured. For more info please see here.

Re-using content from sites such as YouTube and Vimeo can also be done and we can source AV from other areas including OU archive and BBC. For these assets please include these in your Asset handover spreadsheet.
