2 Summary of Week 3

You have now learned how to listen to some of the important vertical aspects of music, that is, of notes heard simultaneously. You have listened to chords, identified major and minor sounds and heard how chords relate to a ‘home’ key. You have listened to isolate chord patterns and have heard how harmony can create structures like the 12-bar blues. Next week you will add three final elements to your listening skills: texture, dynamics and structure.
