5 Reflection
This week has given you an opportunity to improve your understanding of the digital environment and the skills you need to be effective within this environment. You have assessed your confidence on the five main digital skills areas. You now also have a Digital plan that you can use to develop your skills in the future so that they are useful at home, at work and for your studies.
Activity 8 Reflection
Listen to Manuela, John and Michael talk about what they have learned and how this has been beneficial in different areas of their lives. As you listen, make some notes in your Digital plan on how the skills might be helpful to you too. Identify three resources from your Digital plan to try out over the next month. This will help you to progress on your digital journey by reminding you what you’ve discovered on this course and what is available to explore in the future.

I didn’t realise that you could fit digital skills into such a neat framework. It was all a bit of a jumble in my head before, and now, it’s all starting to come together.
The quizzes have helped me realise that I’m not very confident in a lot of online things, but I am fairly confident at finding things. I have made a note of some Being digital activities that can help me develop my skills, and I’ve already finished two of them.
The social media activities will be really useful, and the ones about knowing who to trust – you see, I was scammed once, and it felt horrible. I am so pleased that the course will help me protect myself better when I’m online.

The confidence rating questions were helpful but a bit worrying because they’ve come back that I lack confidence in most areas. Though, I know that’s just because I’ve not really done much yet and I just need to get started, you know.
I’ve saved all the links on finding, evaluating information into my Digital plan. I think I need to be aware of the pitfalls of being an innocent. I have noted the other skills areas but I think I’ll leave them on the back burner until later in the course.
It’s given me a lot to think about.

The quizzes made me realise I need to work on the ways I communicate with people. The digital framework with the different descriptions of skills helped me think about what I do in a different light. I’ve started to think more about how I look online when I’m joking about with my mates.
I think this course can help me to improve the way I project myself online. I’m beginning to realise that I can share more than just the latest gig on Facebook and that I can use social media to promote my cooking skills and my career. But to do that well, I need to do some of those digital footprint activities.
I’ve made a note in my Digital plan to work through the communication, writing online activities. I really want to find out more about how to be good at blogging.
