Course trailer
Course trailers are a valuable tool in the creation of the content, not only is it present on the course description page but it will also be used on social media platforms to market the course. The course trailer should be something that is thought about in the making of the course outline and how with the learning outcomes can the course be developed to reach as many learners as possible.
We find that a course trailer is best suited to 60-90 seconds and should encapsulate what a learner will learn and gain for the course content. There are a variety of options available here and here are some examples:
Bespoke animation
Bespoke animations on OpenLearn can be created by contracted freelancers, if this is what you would like to create then we would require a script and an idea of animaiton style. More info on scripting is available here [Tip: hold Ctrl and click a link to open it in a new tab. (Hide tip)] .
Created content by the OpenLearn team / Freelancers
We are able to create some content within the OpenLearn team or contracting freelancers. This will depend on the nature of the video and what you're looking to create but our Assistant Producer in OpenLearn will be able to provide some ideas on how we can create this. And there will be some budget avaiable to undertake this work.
Bespoke AV piece to camera
You may have an idea for what you would like to create as a trailer of the course, we find that if there is someone recognisable in the industry/field of study, this can give a good idea to the learner what the course is about and also give it an added edge when the trailer is marketed through social media. The course trailer below is introduced by former England hockey player and Olympic gold medallist Alex Danson.
