Writing the questions

It is recommended that the questions for each week are written at the same time as writing the week’s contents. The same is true of a week’s questions that will be in the Week 4 or 8 quiz. It is also useful to forward one full week’s questions (formative) and the associated Week 4 or 8 questions, for that week, to the OpenLearn editor or quiz consultant, for early feedback.

Please use a separate Word document for each quiz.

For handover a full set of quizzes is required, with the following information:

  1. Question type
  2. Question
  3. Correct answers
  4. General Feedback to explain the correct and incorrect options
  5. Two hints.

The hints will come up after each attempt of the question, when a learner has the incorrect answer.

All learners see the general feedback when they have completed their attempt at a question, whether they were correct or not.

The first hint always has the standard wording shown in these examples, as one of the most common reasons learners submit an incorrect response is not reading a question carefully enough.

The second hint can be as shown in the examples, or can be something more specific that you feel may help with answering the question.

Note: you are not expected to construct the quizzes in the VLE.

These examples show how to present this information.
