Online Summer School 2021

This online summer school ran over 4 weeks in July/August and involved five investigations, each based on a different analytical technique: Infrared spectroscopy, High Performance Liquid Chromatography, UV-Visible spectroscopy, Biochemical Oxygen Demand and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Participants were provided with an introduction to the analytical method before completing an online investigation (interactive screen experiment or via remote access to real instrumentation in the OU laboratories). Successful completion required participants to engage at least four out of five of the investigations during which time they developed and applied observational, numeracy, time-management, collaboration and communication skills.
