Online Journal Club

This badge has been issued for participating in an Open University Online Journal Club. As part of an Esteem project, Online Journal Clubs are currently being offered to Open University students enrolled on a small number of second level biology-related modules. We are hoping to be able to offer the opportunity to participate in these events to more modules in future. This microbadge has been issued for participation in an Online Journal Club and by successfully completing the associated interactive computer marked assignment. Online journal clubs provide the chance to share science news to an audience made up of other OU students. They provide an environment for students to present a short talk about their chosen news item/journal article – and along the way, students have the opportunity to practice key skills, including use of ICT and evaluation of information and, of course, presentation skills.
