D-CENT is “a Europe-wide project creating privacy-aware tools and applications for direct democracy and economic empowerment. Together with the citizens and developers, we are creating a decentralised social networking platform for large-scale collaboration and decision-making”.

It was initiated by researchers, scientists & educators and encourages people to participate through an online platform. D-CENT is transnational in orientation and concerned with democracy, politics & representation; economy; and participation

It was launched in October 2013 and will run until May 2016.
