Biography

Ian T Murdock, CFA is a risk management professional with operational, analysis and project management experience based in New York City. Recently at Credit Suisse he was a project manager for the Risk and Finance Data Reporting and Analytics division: reporting credit, market, and operational risk to regulators across the world. Before joining Credit Suisse, he was a credit analyst at Barclays Capital in New York, and worked in front office credit management at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London. I grew up in Eastbourne, on the south coast of England, moving to London for work, and later to New York. After earning my CFA Charter (a professional qualification), I started studying with the Open University. I have a BSc (Open) with a focus on Mathematics and Environmental Science. Open University modules I have taken are: MST121 Using mathematics, DD100 An introduction to the social sciences, MS221 Exploring mathematics, M248 Analysing data, MST209 Mathematical methods and models, S206 Environmental science, S396 Ecosystems, T313 Renewable energy, M343 Applications of probability, and MT365Graphs, networks and design In addition to my native English, I speak basic French and intermediate Swedish. I have a certificate in foreign languages (Scandinavian) fromNew York University (NYU) School of Professional Studies (SPS). I am interested in OpenLearn classes with a focus on modern languages, mathematics, and applied mathematics e.g. engineering and computing.
