My interest in this course came from media and parliamentary pre-occupation with the European Union. But it also put into context with my previous work. Previously I represented Uk policy at ICAO meetings in Europe and this course proved interesting. It brought out the backdrop as to how the UK fits in and how we got to where we were (up to 2004 when it became 27 member States). It shows how democratic or otherwise the EU was constitue: and where problems have occured and why. I enjoyed the course.

Interesting that we are now 21 days away from the January 1st deadline with , what seems, many sticking points remaining to any deal. Anthony Stainer points out: this course pre-dates the Lisbon Treaty. Did that Treaty live up to expectations?
