    • Welcome to the Prospective Academic Mentor Training!

      Thank you for giving your time to make a difference in the lives of youth through Be A Mentor's virtual Academic Mentor Program. This training is put together by Be A Mentor, using over 29 years of experience in mentoring. Prospective Academic Mentors will be provided with information about the roles and skills of Academic Mentors. Tools for supporting mentees academically, in goal setting, career exploration, and other areas of their life will also be shared. The support that you are preparing to provide can have an immense impact on your mentee, and we hope that it will also be a meaningful experience for you. 


      • These questions focus on responding how challenges in mentoring relationships. Check each answer after selecting it, and you can attempt the question again if needed. 

  • Course learning outcomes

    Successful engagement of this course will allow prospective mentors to:

    • Demonstrate multiple tools to communicate and interact with their mentee. 
    • Identify the program expectations and necessary commitment to being a volunteer mentor.
    • Explain and implement tools for supporting their mentee in setting goals.
    • Identify the program guidelines and limits of confidentiality and when to ask for help for their mentee.

    This was a great set of effective lessons for being a mentor for the youth. I really enjoyed the videos and subject matter. My only critique is some videos could have been shorter.
